Guru Nanak Dev University’s Ashi Chouksey came up with a near flawless performance to beat teammate and Olympian Sift Kaur Samra to clinch her fourth consecutive KIUG gold medal at the Khelo India University Games Rajasthan 2025 at the Jagatpura Shooting Range here on Sunday. The fifth edition of KIUG 2025 is being held across seven cities in Rajasthan. A whopping 4448 athletes from 222 Universities are competing in 23 medal disciplines. The Games are being held under the aegis of the Sports Authority of India in collaboration with the Rajasthan State Sports Council and is being hosted by Poornima University.The 23-year-old, the 2022 Asian Games medallist, led the 50m final from start to finish and won the gold medal with a final score of 462.3 points, beating her nearest opponent by 2.7 points.In fact, Ashi had a four-point lead over Sift going into the last four shots but registered two shots below 10 in the end, but that hardly affected her chances of winning the gold medal. “I was not focussing on the scores at all. I had won the gold medal in KIUG for the last three years and I was determined to not lose out on the gold this time. So, I was only focused on my shooting, and it was only in the final few shots that I paid attention to the score,” said Ashi after winning the gold medal. Guru Nanak Dev University also bagged the 10m Air Pistol team gold while cyclist Niya Sebastain won the women’s Keirin race to take their gold medal tally to 30.KLEF University’s Mukesh Nelavalli bagged the 10m Air Pistol individual gold medal with a final score of 243.3 points, getting the better of Paris Olympics bronze medallist Sarabjot Singh, who finished with a bronze medal after scoring 220.8 points in the final. The silver medal went to Aditya Malra of Panjab University with a score of 240.2.Meanwhile, Savitribai Phule Pune University moved up to sixth position after winning two gold medals on the last day of cycling competitions to take their overall tally to six gold.Siddhi Shirke of Pune University, who was competing despite a fractured right wrist, won the Women’s Point Race while Mangesh Takmoge claimed the top spot in the men’s Keirin competition.“Last month while training for a road race, my coach and I were hit by a bike due to which I had bruises on my body, and I also fractured my wrist. The plaster came off last week and though the pain is still there, and the mobility isn’t that good, I am happy that I could manage to win the gold medal today,” said Shirke, who was participating in her first Khelo India University Games.Adwaith Sankar SS of University of Kerala clinched the gold medal in men’s Point Race with Pune University’s Siddhesh Patil and Kishore Bharathidasan University bagging the silver and bronze medals respectively.

The 10th edition of the Vedanta Pink City Half Marathon (VPCHM) concluded here on Sunday, showcasing an extraordinary display of community spirit and determination.Almost 15,000 runners participated in support of Vedanta’s #RunForZeroHunger movement, raising 1 lakh meals for children at Nand Ghars, the company’s flagship social impact project working to ensure a nourished and healthy future forchildren by transforming anganwadis across India. Sanitation crisis deepens in Jaipur after municipal boardterm ends

Sanitation services across Jaipur have plunged into disarray following the end of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation’s board term, leaving residents grappling with overflowing garbage, foul smell and erratic waste collection. What was earlier a structured, ward-wise system has now collapsed into disorder. Previously, each councillor was allotted a sanitation inspector and at least four sanitation workers, enabling close monitoring of daily cleanliness. However, since the board’s tenure ended, workers have stopped taking instructions from former councillors, and complaints about irregular hoppers, unattended garbage points and poor drainage are going unanswered. Neither zone offices nor the corporation headquarters are responding. The crisis spans the entire city from the Walled City to Sanganer and other areas where residents say hoppers often arrive late, old dumping spots have resurfaced and drains remain uncleared for weeks.Former councillor Mohammad Zakariya said they earlier ensured proper cleaning through allotted staff, but now even zone-level officials are unresponsive. “With hopper services irregular, open garbage points that were removed have reappeared,” he said.Former councillor Arvind Methi added that though residents continue to approach them with complaints, corporation officials do not act. “Garbage collection was challenging even earlier, but now the situation is far worse,” he said.In Sanganer, former councillor Rajeev Chaudhary reported that many wards have not seen drainage cleaning for months. “People are suffering because of the stench. Even we are not being heard at the zone office,” he said.Another former councillor, Ashish Parewa, said the entire system has collapsed. He said, “Sanitation and garbage collection have been major issues for five years. We tried hard, but things are worse now. Roads are in poor shape too, and the corporation doesn’t seem to be focusing on any civic issue.”

The Jaipur Motorcycle Club celebrated its landmark 50th anniversary with the grand “Festival of Speed” at the John Singh Dirt Park in Nayala.The three-day event brought together riders from across the country, commemorating five decades of India’s oldest motorcycle club. The festival showcased three exhilarating racing formats -Dirt Track, Team Enduro and Motocross – drawingparticipation from expert, women and novice riders who demonstrated exceptional skill and endurance.The highlight of the event was the 6-hour team enduro. This is the first time this racing format has been held in India. There was a tough fight between the Blue Goa team and the Orange Jaipur boys, the Goa racers winning by just a single lap after over 200-km of racing. The race for 3rd and 4th was equally tight with the Red team beating the Green Saahas Club team by just one lap again.On day 1, the Dirt Racing competition saw outstanding performances across the Indian Expert, Foreign Expert and Novice categories. Shoaib Qurashi, Dhritiman Singh and Shivam Khedekar secured first place, followed by Dilip Lalwani, Bhumik Lalwani and Rishab Meena in second place, with Vijay Singh, Aditya Samant and Rajeev finishing third in their respective categories. The Team Enduro Challenge on day 2 was won by Team Blue Goa, while Team Orange Jaipur claimed second place and Team Red Jaipur secured third.The festival concluded on the last day with the Motocross Grand Finale, where Nitin, Bhumik Lalwani and Yoshua took the top spot across their respective categories. Rajasthan Guv Bagde approves initiatives for war veterans’ welfare

Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, on Friday, has given the approval for a series of major initiatives aimed at enhancing the welfare of war veterans, war widows, and their dependents in the state. Chairing the 18th meeting of the State Military Board at Raj Bhavan, the Governor emphasised a time-bound approach and a positive mindset in executing welfare policies for the state’s ex-servicemen community. Governor Bagde approved the establishment of an old-age home for war veterans in Jaipur, an integrated military complex in Jodhpur, and a uniform policy for naming schools and public institutions after martyred soldiers. He directed officials to expedite all pending decisions related to military welfare and ensure effective, transparent, and compassionate implementation. “Soldiers safeguard the nation and enable citizens to live in peace. Society must remain eternally grateful to them and work tirelessly for their welfare,” the Governor said, urging all departments to work wholeheartedly for war veterans and their families. Old-age home for war veterans has been approved which will be set up in Jaipur under a time-bound plan. Also, an integrated complex in Jodhpur will be set up in which development will be undertaken at the Military Welfare Department complex in Raika Bagh, with feasibility studies and funding under Central and state schemes. Military Welfare Office has also been set up with in-principle approval granted for a new office at Rajgarh in Churu district,” Governor Bagde said.
